Why extend bump stops

After a lift and bigger tyres, bump stops usually need extending so the tyre cannot hit the wheel arch or wing at full compression. Bump stops also protect the shocks, as they, not the shock, should stop the suspension's upward travel. Work out the extension length by checking where the tyre starts to rub with the suspension compressed and the wheels on full lock. Hydraulic bump stops cushion bottoming more gently than rubber ones. Shocks are in Shocks, and springs in Coil springs.
