Off-Road Lighting

Lighting for 4x4s, pick-ups, campervans and work vehicles: LAZER light bars and driving lamps (Triple-R, Linear, Sentinel, Glide, ST), OSRAM LEDriving, ARB, Hella Black Magic, Purelux and Rough Country, work and flush-mount lamps, LED headlights, rear lamps, warning beacons, bulbs, plus brackets, wiring harnesses, switches and controllers – such as the Rough Country MLC-6 – and vehicle-specific mounting kits, for example for the Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator.

Beam patterns and uses

A spot (pencil) beam reaches furthest and suits faster driving on gravel. Flood is a wide, shorter beam for working around the vehicle and for slow driving through woodland. Combo and driving beams blend both and are the usual choice for an overland vehicle. Work lamps are typically fitted to the sides of a roof rack and at the rear, lighting the camp, the winch area and reversing manoeuvres.

Type approval and wiring

On public roads only type-approved lamps (with an E mark on the lens) may be used. Auxiliary driving lamps must switch on with the vehicle's main beam and go off when you dip, and the combined reference values (Ref) of all main-beam lamps must not exceed 100. Lamps without approval are for off-road use only. Wire every lamp through a relay and fuse, using cable sized for the current and run length, and use sealed connectors wherever water can get in.

Start with 7" LED lamps for bull bars and bumpers, LED headlights and primary lamps or Switches, cables and relays.
