The MetalCloak Chromoly Dog-Legged Tie Rod is a replacement for the factory steering tie rod, built for harder off-road use and heavier wheel/tire setups. It uses a 4130 Chromoly tube (1.625" OD, 0.375" wall) paired with beefy 1-ton dog-leg tie rod ends.
Its Anti-Flop ends help limit unwanted fore/aft “flop” movement while keeping full articulation through steering. The kit also includes steering stabilizer provisions (axle-side mount and an optional tie-rod mount depending on configuration).

A 2.5-inch lift is the optimal choice — it allows for fitting larger tires while maintaining ride comfort. Springs starting from 3.5 inches are stiffer to support the vehicle’s height. Unfortunately, this stiffness limits overall comfort, even with high-quality shocks.
