If you are active and wear shoes, moisture-wicking socks will keep your feet dry. However, if the footwear absorbs water and gets wet, its breathability will be reduced. The moisture will not be able to escape through the material, causing sticky and damp feet. Alternative impregnation products are often solvent-based aerosols. Other products may be water-based and contain fluorocarbon hydrocarbons. Aerosol products are flammable. Fluorocarbon hydrocarbons pose a potential threat to the environment and, in the long run, to users' health. Solvent-based products must also be applied to dry fabrics.
